Taking a stroll on the terrace, taking in the beauty nature had to offer. Although amidst such beauty, I was preoccupied with counting the number of days left before I had to answer my first TY university paper. My head was clouded with questions and worries. I haven't been motivated to study lately. The connection between my thoughts or intentions and behaviour or actions wasn't optimal.
I had been walking back and forth on the terrace. As I was turning to walk back on the path I had just walked, I felt a water droplet on my skin, there were light clouds hovering around. It was thundering now, I decided to go inside. Closing the door behind me, I made my way towards the stairs. As I took the next step, something in my peripheral vision caught my attention. There was a papaya sapling growing through the cemented bricks. Curious, I walked closer to inspect it.
I won't lie, although with a good intention I did try to uproot it. However it stood firm, and wouldn't move a bit. I was fascinated with this little sampling that had decided to grow irrespective of the cement. That's when a thought crossed my mind, "only you can hamper your growth". Only you can stop yourself from doing something. By the same token, only you can truly motivate yourself to do anything. Yes, there are family and friends. But the conviction from within is what makes the real difference.
I believe that was a message meant for me, and perhaps it's meant for you too.
